Kin-Hoe Loi is an Associate with Floyd Zadkovich based at our London office.

Prior to joining FZ, Kin-Hoe previously worked as an international arbitration Associate at a top global law firm, based in Malaysia, and prior to that as a litigation Associate at a boutique Malaysian litigation firm. He is cross-qualified in England & Wales, having been called to the Bar in 2017 and later having been admitted as a solicitor in 2023, and was also called to the Malaysian Bar in 2018.

Kin-Hoe has acted for States and private companies in high value complex arbitrations under leading institutional and ad hoc rules, including ICSID, ICC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL, and has experience in a wide range of matters, including commercial, construction, and investment treaty disputes.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from Queen’s University Belfast and obtained a ‘Very Competent’ on the BPTC from BPP.

Kin works in English (native) and speaks basic Mandarin.

  • A consortium of international oil and gas companies on disputes arising from a series of exploration and production sharing agreements with an African State, concerning changes in law and the State’s alleged breach of the stabilisation clauses in the agreements and the full protection and safety clauses of the bilateral investment treaties.
  • A Japanese petroleum company as the successful claimant in an ICC arbitration regarding delay and quantum related disputes arising out of two coal purchase agreements with an Indonesia mining company.
  • An international Japanese corporation as the successful claimant in a Singapore seated UNCITRAL arbitration, and related court proceedings involving various forms of interim relief, arising from a power purchase agreement with a South Asian government agency.
  • Three Malaysian State-Owned Enterprises on their exposure and recommended defences, arising out of the Sultan of Sulu US$15 billion arbitral award against the Malaysian State.
  • A Philippine utility company in successfully resolving a Singapore seated mediation and ICC arbitration, concerning a dispute involving the supply of generators to its power plants.
  • A leading global hotel chain in an DIFC-LCIA arbitration and in applications for emergency injunctive relief in the DIFC Court, including in obtaining worldwide freezing orders for the preservation of assets.
